More random ramblings

First off, I just wanted to give the following praise report:
My daughter made it through boot camp. She graduated in mid-September from Fort Jackson. My wife and I flew out to Columbia, SC for Family Day and Graduation Day. It was so nice to see her after ten weeks. The longest she's ever been apart from us before was a week. We even got a bonus afternoon, night, and morning to see her before she flew to her AIT in California, due to a plane crash that closed the airport for while. I know, I know, I should feel really bad about the plane crash, but we were just so glad to be able to spend more time with our daughter.
Item two: Missing persons.
A lot of the people who have been regular posters have been leaving or going on hiatus lately. Sadly, they typically vanish into thin air. I suppose it's none of my business why they leave and all, but I get sort of attached and, well, I miss them. No offense to the newer posters, but it is hard to replace someone like a Violet or a Boanerges who were such prolific posters and gracious people. There are others as well whom I haven't named specifically, but those two probably accounted for half the postings during their stay. I just noticed a couple of other once familiar faces have faded from the scene, which put me in a melancholy mood which prompted this blog entry. I don't have the time to keep up with everything going on with everybody, but I do try to maintain a general awareness of the community. I'm no Boanerges, so I can't give everyone the attention I would like, but I do notice and value nearly everyone who bothers to post more than once or twice. Anyway, since it wouldn't do for an anti-social stoic like me to get all mushy or wierd or anything, I've put these thoughts in my blog, rather than the open forum. On a cheerier note, I will get to meet most (hopefully all!) of you in person in eternity. What a reunion that will be!
Item c:
I went to the dentist today. For the first time in ages, I got my teeth cleaned and inspected without having my mouth being left sore. Kids, diligent flossing pays dividends, and in today's stock market, that's especially important. Doubley so for me, since I seem to be developing an immunity to novacaine. Last time I had a tooth worked on, I felt like Dustin Hoffman in Marathon Man.

No, it's not an emoticon, it's the roman numerals for "4" followed by a colon. I suppose if you look at it sideways, though, it resembles a :V with a bowtie. Anyway, I just wanted to say, an M&M cookie with a glass of cold milk is da bomb.
