A little help

Posted 12-05-2007 at 04:27 AM by Coming Undone
Hi

I am a 14 year old teen living in Toronto. I joined this forum because I need a little help. All my life I've been raised Christian. I'm not the greatest Christian in the world I mean I'm not getten promoted to saint any day soon. Point is I have a lot of questions and no one to ask them. Both my parents work constantly. My dad is only home for a few days every couple weeks. My mom is home but still working constantly. I love my parents a lot but I don't really want to bother them...

More about me

Posted 11-27-2007 at 01:38 PM by Kevin
I am married with two beautiful daughters. I live in South Africa and work for a large food company where I head up the research and development for new food products.

I am an avid disciple of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I have known God all my life, but only in the last few years, after I drifted away, have I devoted my life to Jesus.

I believe that as christians we should have a balance between knowing Gods Love and having fear or reverance for God.

I want some opinions or feedback I don’t know which it is but some of you know that my father shot himself in the head on Jan. 14, 1989 at 8:15 pm and died in my arms at 10:35 pm. Now there is a reason for me giving the times. When he shot himself he had been living a Christian life a very strict one at that. On Jan.13 1989 he relapsed into his drug and alcohol addiction. I guess he couldn’t handle life’s stressors and that was the problem solving skill he had been taught when the going gets tough...

What about the baptism of the Holy Spirit?
For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. (Act 1:5)

What of the Holy Spirit BEFORE baptism?
There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius..... He saw in a vision ..... an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius..... send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: (Act 10:1-5)
And Peter said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. (Act 10:28)
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost..... Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord (Act 10:44-48)
And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him, Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them. (Act 11:1-3)
But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them (Act 11:4)
When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. (Act 11:18)
(One fundamental exception does not make the rule)

What happens after water baptism?
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. (Act 22:16)
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (Gal 3:27)
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ(Col 2:12)
What about the baptism of fire?
Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance ..... And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. (Mat 3:8-12)
Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. (1Co 3:13)...
