Another subject brains and tongues

From a new brain imaging study at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, SPECT scans were taken of subjects while worshiping versus speaking in tongues. The speaking in tongue images primarily show a decrease of brain activity in the frontal lobes, which is what normally makes us feel as if we're in control. There was also a decrease in activity in the left basal ganglia, which is involved with focusing attention and emotional responses. Finally, the thalamus activity increased during speaking in tongues which supports it is an active state of the brain.
I find it fascinating that we see a decrease in the amount of control in our minds when we pray in tongues. This seems to back up scripture as of
course any sound science would.
Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Rom 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Any thoughts on this subject would be appreciated.

That's a fascinating study. I wonder why I never heard about it before...

I am sure that this will come to a surprise of "non-tongue believers"...they probably think that we don't use our brain at all!!!

Ok so I under stand it as when the Spirit takes over we are out of control of our own speech. I can hear myself but dont know what I'm saying but it just flows out like second nature. I speak in tounges from time to time but I hear it alot more often. i dont understand what they are saying but my heart understands exactly what they are doing. It's embedded in my heart to understand but not my physical mind/brain. So as a human there is no comprehension, spiritually I DO under stand. So when my wife speaks in toungs I know! She's Mexican. Of course spanish speaking. When I heard her 1 day speaking in a strange languege I looked over at her , she was kind of in a trance with tears rolling down her face with a smile at the same time. She was directly connected with Jesus giving Him Thanks and Praise. I didn't know WHAT she was saying but I knew EXACTLY what she was saying. Do ya follow me? It is a very deep personal connection with Jesus on a spiritual level. We all have the ability to do so. Some are just more develpoed than others. Im gettin long winded srry.
