Perhaps a simple definition of haughty would help:
H1361 גּבהּ gâbahh gaw-bah' A primitive root; to soar, that is, be lofty; figuratively to be haughty: - exalt, be haughty, be (make) high (-er), lift up, mount up, be proud, raise up great height, upward. So to be haughty is to be proud and arrogant. Isa 3:16 Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: Pro 21:24 Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
