The first and obvious meaning: Try to reslove matters with your adversaries immediately, for example, apologize if your dog bites your neighbor. It may save you a trip to court.
My secondary definition: Do not wait until judgement day to ask forgiveness of your sins, it may be too late, and this time it's not court where you'll end up.
