God is perfect in every sense of the word. His perfect nature repels sin, and He cannot go against His nature because the absolute perfection of his nature renders it unchangeable. If His nature could be changed, He would not be perfect.
Since God's nature repels sin, sinners cannot, by themselves, come to Him. An intermediary is necessary, one that shares the Father's nature. That intermediary is Jesus, the Second Person of the Triune Godhead, who took on human flesh, came to earth and died to make atonement for our sins.
