Well, one way to end an argument is to remove opposition.
In my experience, I have dealt with atheists and mockers of Christ by doing what they don't expect. I just show them the defintion of agape. It's sometimes amazingly difficult (okay, always!) because it's my nature to take every argument head-on. But, like one poster said, it's about winning them to our Lord with love.
