I think if you at all feel that your heart is not pure and you aren't truly focused on God and his love, then you have had too much to drink.
My female friend asked me to go to the bar with her this Friday. I told her I quit drinking. She kept asking why, and then finally said okay, but you should come to keep me company. Now I know she's thinking "yea right, if he comes to the bar, and if someone buys him a drink, he'll drink." But I'm going to spend time in prayer and worship on Friday, and then actually go to the bar with them. I will not drink, I have NO worry of being tempted, praise the Lord! I am not going there because I really want to, I honestly feel I will do good work for God there, somehow. I want to be there in the Spirit and do whatever God asks me to. I live for Him now, let it be known!
Complete and total love and commitment for the Lord is the only way! Believe me he will bless you for just DROPPING COMPLETELY the thought of drinking!
