Venus is usually aways visible on a clear night, but Mars only just recently its been viewable.
For a long time I lived near Annapolis, MD where there was so much light pollution, I could only occasionally see the Big Dipper and a few other stars.

We moved back to the State of Maine where I grew up, and from my sister's driveway, we can see the Milky Way with the naked eye! It's wonderful!
