To subscribe automatically, try this:
.. Click UserCP up top (small letters, in a long blue area).
.. Click Edit Options
.. Find and click "Defaujlt Thread Subscriptions Mode"
.. Change the box there to "Instant Email Notification"
.. At bottom click "Save Changes".
