Also, I'm diabetic, and I switched to Coke and Sprite Zero from a fruit sugar sweetened drink about six months ago. I haven't had any weird symptoms yet...it's something to think about. My wife has told me often that she read about dangers in the sweetner used in Coke Zero and other brands.

I'm diabetic as well. I use Splenda with no ill effects.
I don't know if the Diet Rite products are sold in Germany, but they all use Splenda.
