Tropical Storm Noel Update, 01 November 2007, 06:00 Hrs CDT
Tropical Storm Noel has made the anticipated north to northeasterly turn about midway between Florida and Cuba. The storm is traveling at 6 MPH with top wind speeds at over 60 MPH. The counterclockwise rotation of this storm is sending strong, tropical force winds, rain and high surf into the Atlantic coast of Florida, which is causing significant flooding and severe beach errosion. Several structures are being undermined at this hour and have been evactuated because of the possibility of collapse. This storm, while not a hurricane at this hour, has claimed over 75 lives in the past week.
This storm will continue north northeast for several days and will be near the Canadian Maritime Provinces by late Sunday. Persons all along the east coast of the US can expect high, gusty winds, significant rainfall and high surf with high-tide flooding.
Residents along the East Coast should monitor local NOAA Weather broadcasts for up to the minute official information, watches amd warnings. Our next update will take place as conditions warrant.
