I'm not a fan of tattoes, i just don't see a significance in them, even if it were a biblical reference. If you want to refer to the cross or a passage speak it out of your mouth (is my opinion)
I have a friend who has a cross tatted on his arm, he goes to my church, his parents are good people but...that cross he has on his arm is not one he bears. Forgive me for judging him,but his ways are unlike those of Jesus. I will pray for him, I know i'm nowhere near perfect, but it's a lie to think God will have compassion on you, just because you wear a big chain with a cross or have one tatted to your body.
Here's one of my favorite passages that describes God,
Samuel 16:7."...the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart."I kind of blew the entire tattoo thing out of proportion, but it just reminded me of a friend of mine who i haven't seen in awhile and don't know what he's up to. LORD have mercy.
