as Christians we have to remember that it is not our place to provoke the evil one... even Michael the Archangel didn't do this, but instead, more properly said "The Lord rebuke you"....

Jude 1:8-9 (HCSB) Nevertheless, these dreamers likewise defile their flesh, despise authority, and blaspheme glorious beings. 9 Yet Michael the archangel, when he was disputing with the Devil in a debate about Moses’ body, did not dare bring an abusive condemnation against him, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”

On the other hand.... CS Lewis has some wise words at the beginning of Screwtape Letters which says that we ought not dwell on the evil one too much, nor on the other hand, disregard him too much either.....

"There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors and hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight." (Preface)

blessings,
Ken
