I am with you 100% brother B! I have been on the receiving end of the "truth in love" thing many times and not only it was not spoken "in love", it wasn't even the truth! On the other hand I must confess, I spoke "the truth" sometimes but without "the love" and the way I knew that was that deep down I wasn't really wanting to help that person improve their walk and their relationship with the Lord but, in fact, I wanted them to change what they were doing because it was offensive to me. I think that's the measure by which we truly know weather we are speaking the truth in love or not. What is really the motive behind it? Do we want the person to stop what they are doing because it hurts or agravates us or because we love them and we don't want to see what they are doing hurt them? And are we really trying to look at the "why" behind the "what" or are we just being legalistic? Selah... again...
