Cross culture confussion???

Words in differant cultures/countries don't always have the same meaning.
In the UK (mate) is a common expression of freindship between men.
Here in the U S (mate) is often used by homosexuals to refer to their same gender partner.
Your use of the word "mate" could be missunderstood by people of other cultures, to mean the that this fellow is a " same gender relationship partner".
I'm sure you don't want any doubt or confussion on the matter.
I just wanted to bring that out ,hopefully without insulting anyone.
Sincerely
Cliff
