Part of this sounds like books by Mary K Baxter which were written in the 70's and later popularized in the late 90's. In her books, Mary claimed that Jesus took her to Hell and showed her how bad it was and then later showed her Heaven because she was so traumatized. Her books became very popular in many Christian Circles.
However, here's a few things to consider:
1) Experiences like these are generally unreliable at best. It's hard to test them to see if they're truly genuine and even then, it's often not the best idea to believe everything you see or hear. Your mind, for example, can play tricks on you very easily.
2) The Bible paints a grim enough picture of hell for us. Salvation out of fear often has poor rooting.
3) This is at best fiction. As I pointed out in #1, there's no way to test it. Just because someone throws in Bible verses here and there doesn't mean that it's true. It may be true, but experiences like these often yield questionable facts which generally slip themselves into the story rather gently.
4) As I pointed out in #2, we don't need it. It makes for good reading (and in this case watching) and it definitely gives you things to think about, but the probability of such a thing being true is very low.
When the Lord returned him, did he test what he believed to be the Lord? The Bible tells us to test the spirits (
1 John 4) and it'd be interesting if someone who's watched the entire thing could tell us if he did or not.
If he didn't test the spirit he thought was God and he doesn't really have proof, I don't see any reason why we should assume that it was anything more than a dream. If it was between 12:00pm and 3:00pm that would likely fall within 1 or 2 of his sleep cyles where REM sleep takes place (which is when you dream). Also some dreams can be extremely real. As "The Matrix" puts it, "Have you ever had a dream that you thought was so real? What if you couldn't wake up from that dream? How would you tell the difference between the real world and the dream world?" Dreams can seem like real genuine experiences until you test them.
If someone's read through all of the segments it'd be nice to get some more info. While I doubt I ever will say "it's true", it'd be interesting to see what he did (like testing the dream and such).
