There are certain things which are principals of life. This is one of those principals. Our love for certain things must generate a serious distaste for that which would destroy what we love. This principal is a natural one as well as a spiritual one. Life is full of opposites which work against each other. For example:
Peace War
Good Evil
Love Hate
Flowers Weeds
Clean Filth
Smooth Rough
Light Darkness
and on and on the list goes... Today I want to focus on the desire that each of you have inside you to Love God. You want to Love God and have a relationship with Him, but there is an opposite which we must contest with in order for this love to be true... Evil.

I. Love the Lord
A. The desire to Love the Lord
1. Put there by God in our creation
2. Often miss applied to others or other
things
B. Although natural in desire, often difficult
to apply in a confused world
1. Everybody says their religion is right
2. Most say they go by the Bible
3. If you want to do something evil, some church will teach its ok
4. It’s not easy to Love a God you don’t
know or understand
5. Many don’t know who to call God or how to worship Him (or some say her)
6. Where does one go to get the truth?
a. To the Bible
b. To the Bible
c. To the Bible
7. Believe the Bible over what others say
a. One God
b. Jesus is the Everlasting Father
c. Salvation is more than just a simple easy believism
d. Baptism is more than just an
outward sign of an inward faith
e. God is still pouring out the Holy
Ghost with the evidence of
speaking with other tongues
f. It does matter what you believe
as well as what you do and say
C. Loving Flowers involves Time and Effort
1. Cultivation - Making them Grow
a. Plant the Seeds
b. Water the Seeds
c. Protect the plant
d. Make sure it gets plenty of sun

2. Planting - To Keep them Growing
a. Right Atmosphere and Location
b. Continued effort and time spent
c. Water and Feed the growing plant
d. Tender plants must be treated carefully
e. Watch out of for the WEEDS!
1. Choke out the light
2. Steal the nutrients
3. Producing Flowers and Fruit
a. Keep paying attention to them
b. Still need water and food
c. Still need weeding to produce

II. Hate Evil
A. Evil is clearly portrayed in the Bible
B. The works of the flesh are manifest or
made known: Galatians 5:19-21
a. Adultery
b. Fornication
c. Uncleanness- Phy & in a moral sense: the impurity of lustful living
d. Lasciviousness - unbridled lust, excess, wantonness, outrageousness, shamelessness, insolence
e. Idolatry
f. Witchcraft
g. Hatred
h. Variance -contention, strife, wrangling
I. Emulations - an envious and contentious rivalry, jealousy
J. Wrath -passion, angry, heat, anger boiling up and soon subsiding again
k. Strife - putting ones self forward or being selfish
l. Seditions - dissension, division
m. Heresies - dissensions arising from diversity of opinions and aims
n. Envying
o. Murders
p. Drunkenness - intoxication
q. Revel lings - feasts and drinking parties that are protracted till late at night and indulge in revelry
r. Such like (any of the above) -
general rule, - if it looks like evil, it
probably is
III. The contrast of God and Evil
A. Easy to see - Light and Dark
B. Can not be combined or mixed
C. Only one can be in Control in our lives
Paul said in Romans 6:16
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

D. Which one will we serve and love
God or Evil
