Take heart in knowing that you're not alone. I agree with the others here that this is very common. Unfortunately, if you were to defend your point of view, many would accuse you of violating the separation of church and state or some other such garbage.

I think Theophilus nailed it:

Quote:
Jesus Said Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
It's our job to sow the seeds of the Gospel and let God do the rest. See the parable about the sower of seeds in Matthew 13:

Quote:
3Then he told them many things in parables, saying: "A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9He who has ears, let him hear."
Just in the last few weeks, I've realized that I cannot CONVINCE anyone to accept Christ...that's God's job. I can share His word and my experience, but the Holy Spirit will work on those whom He chooses. No one will accept the Word of God unless God leads them to. We're not responsible for others' salvation, God is. We ARE responsible for sharing His word, but not forcing others to accept it.

Share your views, be polite and gracious, then move along. Some seeds you sow will fall in good soil, others will fall rock...but let God decide which lands where.
