I'm not sure who once said to look at the word everlasting as "Age-lasting" Which also can mean that it's until God wills it.
yeah you're right that the dictionary doesn't help in this case, so we must go into Biblical analysis of these two words which I don't think I will do.
There was a verse though that had the word eternal life for the saved and everlasting fire for the unbelievers. Jesus was speaking, I don't remember where. Jesus used two different words.
but it all comes down to, "who cares, it's not up to us but our Father, and Hell is real and people will be tormented as long as God wills it"
