HisManySongs is our senior Moderator so please take note of his post above.
We have recently had to suspend the membership of 2 members who allowed their computers to be used by someone else.
Both of them had the computer at home and both assumed that their privacy would be respected within their home.
As HMS pointed out we naturally evaluate each situation on a case by case basis but as a staff team we take a very dim view of anyone who opens the forum to this type of security risk.
After this warning thread we will feel less inclined to offer people a second chance and anyone who does get a second chance will certainly not get a third chance.
As was said in the opening post we take the security of our Members very seriously
Remember sadly computers and especially laptops do get stolen. If yours was taken this forum would be the least of your problems but it would potentially allow someone to access information in the Private sections of the forum, to post messages in your name and to read personal profile details of other members.
I live with just my wife but I still make a point of logging off every time. The process of logging in only takes me a few seconds. I just type my username (In fact when I start to type the computer inserts the name automatically) so all I need to do is type in a password. Max 20 seconds.
By the way I also change my passwords for all sites on a regular basis.
Far better safe than sorry.
