Our elders found a grave on our reservation, way up in the timbers. There's a bicycle helmet hanging from a tree, and a concrete marker that just says: Mother.
It's illegal to bury people out there, just anywhere...so we're still trying to figure out if we're going to relocate the burial to a cemetery.
To the best of our knowledge, some city folks from Portland buried their mother on the reservation without our knowledge or permission.

I think if they would have just asked, we would have said sure.
