I have taken a normally 30 minute drive to Gonzales LA in 10 and 1/2 hours in one evacuation- but if one of those bad boys ( or girls) comes it is worth it- I was very young when Betsy hit New Orleans and flooded the entire westbank - my whole family spent the night between 2 tables laying on their sides as windows were broken by flying debris-I was still fairly young when Camille devastated the Mississippi Gulf Coast- it seemed as though Camille transformed into a real terror as everyone slept that night and the winds and rain were phenominal even were I was ( in Jefferson Parish)- these storms are no joke- not taking them seriously can cost you your life.
