My fiance and I are gonna be outa here by May so no more evacs for me! *does the happy dance does the happy dance* I hate having to leave the city but I can't afford any kind of apartment here.

I'm always the perpared one in my family (guess it's that obsession with zombie invasions lol) My fiance lost his family's house to Katrina and they all knew it was going to happen the second they saw it coming for us. My mom had to stay at the hospital (not Charity) for Katrina and the rest of us left for Jackson Miss and got hit by Katrina up there anyway and lost power.

But I have to say thought that evacuating from a storm is not as easy as many of you may think. many of the people in New Orleans have long lines of family in New Orleans so they can't easly just go up to a relatives house they have to book hotels which as I remember hotels were booked as far up as Dallas, Huston, Jackson, Shreveport... Also many that stayed behind do not have cars or the money for hotels. And the hastle of evacuating like you have to leave as late as possible and get back as early as possible and the traffic is a nightmare I had a friend get stuck in traffic for 3 hours as normally it would take less than an hour to get to the place and they weren't even half way to where they were going.
