Very interesting topic! However, I will agree with several people in your youth group. First off, I think of Job, whom was seen as blameless in the eyes of the Lord. But I do not think that he was perfect or sinless. I used to think of being sinless and perfect as being one and the same, but now I do not. I think Job was just as much a sinner as his wife and friends, but the difference being that he constantly reconciled with God. Therefore God saw him as being blameless. A sinner who, on the other hand, willingly sins is not seen as blameless before God's eyes. Therefore, I think we can never stop sinning, but we can stop wanting to sin! There's no guarantee that you'll not fall down when walking through a field. There are so many gopher holes unseen! I don't think God expects us (or even wants us) to walk without stumbling once in a while. I think we need to sin in order for us to remain close to God...it's His way for us to rely on Him and to show us that we can never be as good as Him. We can never say we are like God! That was Satan's demise! So, he doesn't want us to sin, but He allows us to stumble. And I think many of the verses you mentioned are referring to a daily renewal (confession).
