Yes, the Book of Mormon is very interesting and it sounds pretty plausible, pretty believable, if you don't know much of anything else about God. I felt good working for my Salvation, as they teach. At least I felt like I was "paying my own way."
But, no one could pay that price except Jesus. He gave His salvation to us freely and only wants our lives and our fellowship with Him to be free from sin and no debt is included in this. It's free to all who come to Him.
In the Mormon Church, they keep you very busy working toward that Celestial Kingdom so you can "live with God when you die." But it's all made up by Joseph Smith, who was led by Angel Maroni to believe all this stuff. It's pretty complicated and you really get into it trying to understand. After awhile, you begin to realize that you are going over and over it, all their instructions, and you have to do certain things like wear undergarments and be worthy to go to Temple, etc., which encourages you do work more. They become your whole life until you are afraid of living without them and the activities they involve you in. And, like a cult, you could not investigate other religions anymore, nor read anything but Mormon approved literature. It really sucks you into their culture and I would advise that you do not go, if you have not already.
You will feel really welcome at their church but there is truly a spirit there that will not want you to leave them. They are really good people, but sadly misled by these spirits, who keep them in bondage. I would never have left, had not a fiend introduced this forum site to me. I read the posts for a long time until I felt comfortable joining in. And I'm so glad I did. You can private message me if you have any other questions about the Mormon Church. Bonnie
