To answer the second question..... no. We can not choose salvation for others. They can only make their own decisions regarding their own salvation. To think about doing "anything" for the salvation of another can lead to dangerous thinking......

..... I read about a man in the 60's who thought that way. (I forget his name. I mentioned him once before on this forum in a thread that someone else started which gave a link to something of his.) Anyhow, this man believed in having sex with others to lead them to Christ. His ideology behind it was the very thing you mention when you talk about doing "anything" for the salvation of another. He believed that Christ gave his life for us, for our salvation, and we are commanded to be like Christ, and therefore we should give even our whole bodies for Christ-- which to him included having sex with others if it would lead them to Christ. He preached a lot on love (as did many others in the 60's).

Anyhow, I know that you were not even thinking about, nor implying, something of this nature when speaking of doing "anything" for your own salvation or the salvation of another, but I felt that it must be addressed because taken literally there are people out there whose thoughts do go those routes.

We should be careful that in doing things for the Lord, we are not doing things which are contrary to his teachings, or misinterpreting God's word in order to bring in more souls.
