I think one error people tend to make is that the devil and his demons will be in control. Like the cartoons depict Satan turning up the thermostat, walking around with his forked tail making sure everyone is uncomfortable.
Well as for what I understand, Satan and his followers are NOT in control in Hell. They are inmates with a special place set aside for them in order for them to serve their eternal damnation. They will have absolutely no power or control. They will be dead to God forever suffering a just punishment for their years of tormenting and medling on earth.
Humans, I believe will have varying degrees of torment to fit their crimes.
The biggest torment and what will make hell what it is Is the total separation from God for eternity.
