How ironic. I was just talking about gossip this morning.

Some people excuse their gossiping by saying "it's the truth." But as the verses you listed show, being true does not make repeating/spreading it good or right.

I think the main point to consider before telling someone information about another person is "What are you trying to accomplish by repeating the info?"

Does this other person need to know to protect himself? Can this other person help the one you are talking about - and will he help?

Bad reasons people gossip usually included that person wanting to get attention, and being jealous or angry.

Someone might say they think I have a big nose, but what good would it serve for you to repeat what that person said to me or anyone else? None that I can think of.

A better way is to gentle tell the gossip he/she is out of line to repeat such things.
